Aguas Calientes, called Machupicchu Pueblo to differentiate it from the archaeological zone, is a Peruvian town, Its located in the province of Urubamba in the region of Cuzco.
To get here from the city of Cusco, you have to travel 1 hour and a half by bus to the town of Ollantaytambo and then board the train, a trip of approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes.
Its origins date back to 1901, the year in which the construction of the railroad began to link the towns of Cusco and the province of La Convencion.
Currently it has become a purely tourist town, where you can find hotels, restaurants, bars, in addition to the Machupicchu museum, a butterfly garden, hot springs and some walks to small waterfalls. The entire town is pedestrian and has its tourist places relatively close because it is a very small town, so you can visit it on your free afternoon without needing a guide.
